Dear Moroni,

I got to know you a lot better this semester. I know that you lived in a very hard and difficult time and that you mostly stood alone. I want you to know that you give me hope. Through your example, I have realized how possible and essential it is to stay close to the Lord and to stay righteous even though the world around is obviously not doing the same. I have learned that through all the madness and chaos that is happening in the world and in my life, I still have the greatest source of comfort to rely on. Heavenly Father will always be there for me.

Words cannot express the gratitude I feel when I read the Book of Mormon. Your sacrifice and the sacrifice of others have made it so that I can know truth. Thank you so much for that.

I know that the Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. I have learned that by studying it, peace enters my life. My problems may not go away, but they seem managable. This semester especially I have learned of the love and grace of God. I know the powers of the Atonement and that through it, I can return to live with Heavenly Father. I know that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God and that he restored the Gospel of Jesus Christ in its fulness to the earth. I know that Thomas S. Monson is also a prophet of God and that it is just as important to follow him as it is to follow the prophets in the Book of Mormon and the Bible. He speaks for God just as all the prophets have.

Moroni, thank you so much. I would never know all of this if it was not for the Book of Mormon. I look forward to the day when I can tell you thank you face to face.

Thank you,
Amy Benkenstein
