I believe in Christ. His atonement is real. I have experienced it for myself by repenting of my sins and feeling the spirit of the Lord cleanse me as with fire. Guilt and shame become replaced with great joy and peace.
I believe in the resurrection of the dead. I spent 8 months working in a funeral home in Portland Oregon. I saw the sweet love that a husband/wife had for their spouse who had passed away. I saw the faith that sustained them through such a difficult time, and as I removed their loved one from their place of death to bring them to the funeral, the spirit burned within me the impression that love and life are meant to be forever, that the dead were truly missing their spirit and their shell (body) was to remain here on earth for a time because that is part of the Lord's eternal plan. The soul and body of man will be reunited again after death by the power of the resurrrection of Jesus Christ.
Every attribute we admire in others is a reflection of who Christ is. Though he is not physically with us we can get to know him better through our serving others and praying for our hearts to be filled with charity. As the savior has said, "inasmuch as ye have done it unto the least of these your brethren, ye have done it unto me"
I leave this testimony with you in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
