I have had a chance this semester to gain a different look on the second half of the Book of Mormon. I can be honest in saying that most often, when reading as a family, we did well to get through the first half, but didn't seem to do so hot with the second half, so This has been a great experience for me.
I know this part of the Book of Mormon can be difficult to read just because of the great wickedness and utter destruction of two sets of people. (Nephites and Jaredites) However, I know that it would not have been included unless it had some special significance to our lives.
I know that this Book was inspired of God, and I know that good men led by Him wrote it and protected it with their lives. I know that it is true, and I know that if we want to become closer to our God, we need to abide by the principles contained within these pages.
the most significant thing to me from this half was that no matter how difficult times got, and no matter how much wickedness surrounded them, the prophets stayed firm in the faith. This gives me hope, to know that no matter how scary things get, if I just follow my Savior, and repent through His atonement, I can be made strong enough to withstand the wickedness. I can stand firm and possibly help those around me if I just follow the precepts the Lords has set forth. We CAN do it. The Lord would not have prepared the way if it was not possible for us to accomplish our goals. We just have to remember Him in everything we do. That's it. Just follow His paths, and we will be on the winning team.
I believe the words of the Prophets in this book. Our Savior lives. I know this, and I know that He is ready to save us, if we are willing to accept his Will.
I know God lives and He loves us enough to sacrifice His Son. He loves us enough to let us slip and fall until we get it right with His help. If we rely on His mercy and Grace, we can and will be saved. I say these things in Jesus' name. Amen.
