My unchanging testimony

In the world today we often hear the adage, the only constant thing in life is change. This statement is mostly true, but in a world that seems to always be shifting there are some things that never change and it is of those things that I bear testimony.

Jesus Christ is the son of the living God. I know this because I have studied His life, His words, and His witness. Before, during, and after my study I have knelt in prayer to ask to know the truth. The spirit has born witness to my heart time and again that Jesus is the Christ, that He is my savior. Christ came to do the will of the Father and in doing that I know that he has opened the door to me so that I may return to live with Him.

I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is patterned after the will and desires of God. What a marvelous opportunity in these days to stand as a witness of the truths found in the teachings of this church! I know the Book of Mormon, the Bible, the Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price, to be the word of God. I know this because again, I have studied the words in those books carefully and with a humble heart searching for truth. As I pray and ponder what I read I cannot deny the power of the witness that comes to my heart. I do not think that those words and commandments are true, I know that they are. They have blessed my life in ways that I am only beginning to see.

I know that God lives and that He loves us. I know and have felt often his guiding hand in my life. I know that as a loving Father he has not left me in the dark to find the way of righteousness but has blessed my life with scripture and with living prophets. I know that these men speak for God today, and that Thomas S. Monson has been ordained and prepared to lead the Christ's church in these days. I have a great love for these men and my testimony of their witness has come as I have studied and acted on their council.

I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God as was Moses, Elias, Abraham, and Elijah. God has not ceased to speak from the heavens nor to send prophets to preach repentance and baptism that all might be saved. I cannot tell you that gratitude that fills my heart for Joseph Smith, his ministry, and his record. He brought to me that which is most precious in my life, the Book of Mormon.

In a world that is always changing I leave my testimony and my witness that God lives, that His son Jesus Christ has atoned for all the sins of the world, and that all children belong to Him who has all power. I love the Lord and I love the gospel and I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
